Aberdeen Police Capt. Will Reiber said on Monday afternoon that the circumstances surrounding the early-morning fire were "highly suspicious," and now the department has launched a homicide investigation into the incident.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. on April 15, firefighters were called to the unit block of Roosevelt Avenue, where they found three people dead inside an apartment on the second floor.

"Circumstances surrounding this were highly suspicious," Reiber said. "Police determined that the three were victims of a homicide, and now all resources are being directed to ensure justice will be served."

No details about the victims have been released, and no arrests have been announced.

More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
